Fred has been a licensed professional engineer (PE) in the state of North Carolina since 2018 when he and Andy founded Takla Engineering.

Fred graduated from NC State in May 2004 and has been practicing engineering ever since. He is an expert in myriad disciplines and a well-rounded engineer having extensive experience in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering disciplines and enjoys utilizing his skill set to provide efficient and effective engineered solutions to meet customer needs. Fred excels at communication and innovating. He enjoys working well with the diverse folks of the Triangle and has even had projects leading to an appearance on HGTVs “Love it, or List it.”

 

Prior to founding Takla Engineering, Fred worked in a variety of industries including designing on and off-road construction equipment, brake systems for light rail vehicles, and robotics. Fred's communication skills paired with his engineering prowess lead him to enjoy assessing, designing and troubleshooting engineering issues in a variety of environments from the design desk to the underbelly of heavy equipment and trains. Fred earned a Sigma Green Belt, became a TUV-certified Safety Engineer, and was awarded a patent, US Patent # 9,731,392. His bachelor’s degree from NC State is in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to his self employment, Fred was gratefully employed by companies including: ATI Industrial Automation, Tec Tran Brake Corporation, Belcan, Inc & Catepillar, Inc.

 

Outside of work, Fred enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and two daughters as well as spending time with his greater family and friends. He always enjoys watching the Wolfpack, Panthers, and Hornets pursue greatness.
