Andy has been studying, apprenticing and practicing structural engineering since 2012.  Beginning with summer internships at ECS during his undergraduate years, he subsequently helped start AA Takla Engineering, PLLC with his father, Atef, in 2014. He holds a both a BS and a Masters in Civil Engineering  from NC State University. Gaining from the experience and knowledge passed down by their father as he entered retirement, Andy and Fred founded Takla Engineering, PLLC. Andy received his PE in 2020 and should also soon to be licensed in SC and VA in the coming months.

 

Andy also holds both an active general contractors and real estate broker license which he uses to rehab investment properties. Through his engineering work and investment ventures, he has developed extensive experience with projects involving the structural analysis and renovation of older homes, specifically those typical in Durham.  He enjoys working with other investors and consulting on their project needs. 

 

Andy serves in the United States Navy Reserve, enlisting in 2013 as a Hull Maintenance Technician. Following graduation from NC State, he was commissioned as an Engineering Duty Officer (EDO) with a  technical focus on Ship Salvage, Heavy Lift and Dry Docking. 

 

Andy is married with one child. He is a proud member of the Durham community and is involved in the local high school wrestling community where he was previously the head coach at Voyager Academy High School.
