Andy A. Takla, PE
Andy has been apprenticing and practicing structural engineering since 2013. Andy graduated NC State University in 2016 with a his BS in Civil Engineering and is pursuing a Masters in Civil Engineering from NC State University. Andy is a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina.
Andy's areas of interest include structural wood design, reinforced concrete/masonry design, and foundation designs/repairs. He provides services in scopes of work large and small, tailoring efficient design and consult to each unique project. Andy has developed a niche with older homes (50 years +). He has personally transformed a local 1920s bungalow in a historic district of Durham. He has provided consult, scope of work, and design for countless older homes.
Andy’s hobbies and involvements are diverse and myriad. Along with engineering, Andy is a licensed North Carolina general contractor and licensed North Carolina provisional broker. Outside of the housing industry, Andy is also a commissioned officer in the US Navy Reserve. He currently provides ongoing service as an Engineering Duty Officer. Prior to becoming an officer in our military, Andy was formally enlisted as a Hull Maintenance Technician from 2013 to 2018 with the reserves. For four years, Andy has been a local wrestling coach for middle and high school teens in Durham. He himself is a proud Northern High School graduate (Class of 2009) and former state runner up and collegiate athlete. Andy married in November 2018 his lovely bride, Laura. Together, they live in historic Downtown Durham.
